The Youth Activities Office has been busy so far in 2023! There have been many meetings both via Zoom and in person to help this office flourish and serve our youth population.
As the year continues, we hope to bring a new focus to the family aspect of the SCA! Whether someone is a parent, young child, or teenager, we want to make sure that everyone feels welcome and can enjoy the SCA to the fullest! This will involve increasing the visibility of youth activities at events as well as ensuring that these activities are accessible to all.
As part of this initiative, we will begin compiling resources for teaching and working with youth. From art history, to crafts, to lesson plans, we want our community to have access to everything they need to plan amazing activities at their events and meetings.
We would love to find new ways to guide teenagers and help them find their interests and favorite activities in the SCA. This means that we will be focusing on ways to create safe ‘hang out’ spaces, and we will be finding new ways to help adults safely work with teens as they enjoy our events.
