The SCA Inc. Board of Directors has appointed Roxi J. Elliot (they/them/theirs) as the Society Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Officer. This essential role supports the SCA’s ongoing commitment to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants.
Roxi J. Elliot is a custom jewelry designer and owner of Fandom Pride Designs. They work with natural gemstones, glass beads, shells, wire, resin, recycled or repurposed materials and anything else they can get their hands on. While at SCA events, they can usually be found heralding the list, working behind consultation tables, or teaching classes ranging from ‘Event Accessibility’ and ‘Inclusive Language’ to ‘How to (accurately and respectfully) play a Romani Persona in the SCA’ to ‘The Fae: Histories, Myths, & Legends.’ Roxi lives in Edmond, Oklahoma with their teenage autistic son, whose love of Broadway musicals and the band Queen, rivals their own.
Castellana de Andalucía was born, 1470, into a small Romani community in the coastal town of Almeria. With the Medina Del Campo still decades away, Castellana spent their childhood and early adult life at the docks with their father, the Rom Baro of the community, working to mend fisherman’s nets. Their fondest memories are of wandering down by water’s edge, collecting the beautiful stripped rocks, unique to the region, and making them into jewelry to sell at the local markets.

The Society DEIB Officer will play a key role in providing consistency, guidance, and strategic support across the Known World. A major focus of this position is working closely with Kingdom DEIB officers—offering resources, mentorship, and a unified framework to help ensure that equity and inclusion efforts are sustainable and aligned throughout the Society.
