The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of K. T. ‘Shep’ Sheppard (Graf Ulrich von Brandenburg) as Director-Elect to Seat F. He will assume this position from Dan Watson (Sir Bartholomew Hightower) at the close of the April 2022 quarterly meeting.
K. T. “Shep” Sheppard is an Audio-Visual Engineer at Marshal Space Flight Center designing and implementing AV conference rooms for NASA; prior to that he spent eleven years as an IT Consultant for Huntsville City Schools. He is a US Army veteran, lives in Huntsville, Alabama with his lovely wife Alice and their dog Mal. When not at an SCA event or some odd meeting, you can find him out on the disc golf course, traveling or playing D&D with friends, or (as a self-admitted Anglophile) watching a Liverpool footie match (YNWA)!
Graf Ulrich von Brandenburg is the third son of a minor house in the Margraviate of Brandenburg, who joined the third crusade to earn his way in the world. While on crusade he earned title and wealth in service to Crown and Kingdom. Mostly retired from war unless called on by his Crown, he spends his time traveling western Europe, playing at tourney, sampling local cuisine, making friends, and searching for adventure.
The SCA’s Board of Directors sets policy and maintains the unified rules that provide the framework for all of the SCA’s activities, both modern and game-side, and acts as the final arbiter when rule interpretation is required. Members of the Board make a three-and-a-half (3 1/2) years commitment when agreeing to serve.
As new Directors are seated each April and October, candidates for the Board are continually being solicited. Individuals may be nominated by SCA members and participants or can be self-nominated. No special experience is required, and candidates do not need to have specialized modern degrees. They also need not be peers – people from all walks of life are desired.
