The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of Jason Roach (Duke Baldric Leeman of NewCastle Emlyn) as the Director-Elect for Seat A. He will assume the position at the close of the October 2026 quarterly meeting. His term runs till April 2030.
Jason Roach is a consultant that supports the government of Canada in Cyber Security. Prior to that, he served in the Canadian Forces for over 29 years, deploying all over the world and being introduced to many fascinating cultures throughout the Middle East, Africa and the Balkans. He lives near Ottawa, Ontario with his lovely wife Natasha and the Energizer bunny of a lab named Neo. In his spare time, he loves building networks and infrastructure, watching the Toronto Maple Leafs, and pwning N00bs in Call of Duty.
Duke Baldric Leeman of NewCastle Emlyn (he/him) was a 15th Century fighter who began his journeys in the town of NewCastle Emlyn, along the south-east shore of England. After a brief time travel episode Baldric traveled to the 900s where he joined the Varangian Guard before traveling to France and making a name for himself, teaching fighting and the fine art of fencing to all who would learn – for a price. He has been playing in the SCA for over 40 years, most of that time in Ealdormere, and has visited multiple Kingdoms around the known world, as far East as Drachenwald and as far south as the Kingdoms of Ansteorra, Trimaris and the West.
As new Directors are regularly seated, candidates for the Board are continually being solicited. SCA Inc or affiliate individuals may be nominated by SCA members and participants or can be self-nominated. No special experience is required, and candidates do not need to have specialized modern degrees. They also need not be peers – experience from every aspect of the Society is desired.
