The Board of Directors continue to monitor and review the environmental landscape as it relates to COVID-19. In line with the shift in approach from an emergency response to incorporating COVID-19 activities into sustainable public health practice for almost all jurisdictions, in late May 2023 the Board has amended its COVIDSafe Policy to remove the requirement for the following text to be included in event details, on websites and posted at events:
“Although the SCA complies with all applicable laws to ensure the health and safety of our event participants, we cannot eliminate the risk of exposure to infectious diseases during in-person events. By participating in the in-person events of the SCA, you acknowledge and accept the potential risks. You agree to take any additional steps to protect your own health and safety and those under your control as you believe to be necessary.”
This announcement is no longer required.
The Board has directed the SCA, Inc. President and Society Seneschal to continue to monitor the COVID-19 environment. All Society participants are actively encouraged to take appropriate actions to support their personal health circumstances.
