The SCA Inc. Board of Directors has appointed Katheryn (Kathi) Nikolich (Duchess Thorkatla Herjolfsdottir, OP, OL) as the incoming Society Minister of Arts & Sciences. This is a volunteer position with a three-year warranted term of service, primarily responsible for fostering the study of period culture and technology, and of methods for producing historically accurate artifacts and performances.
Katheryn (Kathi) Nikolich is a historian who studies the political, sociological, and cultural impact of the urban and suburban development. Undergirding her understanding of built environment are degrees in history, architecture, political science, and drafting. She is married, has adult children, a grandchild, and several cats.
Duchess Thorkatla Herjolfsdottir, OP, OL, is a 14th century woman who travels with her husband. Through the years, she served as steward for several events and offices. Creating art, as well as serving and supporting the arts community, is where she finds the greatest personal joy. Along with making clothing, scrolls, feasts, and embroideries, her latest interest is researching the history of color in medieval western art.

Ms Nikolich commences in the role on 1 June 2025
