The SCA Inc. Board of Directors has appointed Emily Renee Carroll (She/Her/Hers) as the Officer of Inclusive Programs. This position plays a vital part in strengthening the SCA’s commitment to building a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming community for all.
Emily Renee Carroll is currently an instructor at Colorado Technical University and Southern New Hampshire University. She teaches diversity, wellness, and sociology courses. Previously, she worked as a project manager for two different National Science Foundation (NSF) grants focused on increasing participation in STEM at the collegiate level for underrepresented groups. She lives in Jonesboro, AR with her husband (Chip), daughter (Aria), two granddaughters (Tempe and Willow) and 8 cats. She is a college graduate with MA’s in Sociology and Criminal Justice and a Specialist in Community College Teaching. She loves going to SCA events, watching wrestling, and spending time with her family.
The Honorable Lady Dominica Maquerelle inherited her husband’s brothel in Avignon, France after his death in the late 14th century. She employed women who were homeless, poor, and abused to help them better their lives. She formed a partnership with the church, and in exchange for a significant donation to the church, men of the cloth would marry her employees as an act of charity, giving them a home and higher social standing. She loves advocating for others and helping coordinate events.

The Officer of Inclusive Programs serves as a strategic leader within the SCA’s Corporate Office, tasked with shaping and guiding diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives across the organization. this role plays a crucial part in developing inclusive policy, creating impactful training programs, and fostering a culture of belonging for all members and volunteers.
