People on the Move – Deputy Society Marshal for Rapier

The Society Marshal is pleased to announce that she has appointed Caitrin McCullough (Magistra Lilias de Cheryngton, OD) to the role of Deputy Society Marshal for Rapier. The Deputy Society Marshal for Rapier reports to the Society Marshal in matters concerning Rapier and Cut & Thrust, including related experimental programs. The position oversees these activities and works to promote and improve safety. The deputy also supports and advises Kingdom Marshals of Rapier and C&T, oversees proposed kingdom rules changes to ensure compliance with Society Handbooks, and helps resolve disputes among Rapier and C&T marshals.

Magistra Lilias de Cheryngton has been a member of the rapier marshallate for approximately 25 years, primarily serving the East Kingdom’s Central Region in the Barony of Carolingia and Shire of Quintavia. Since joining the SCA in 1998, she has dabbled in all manner of activities including cooking, dance, calligraphy, pottery, equestrian, thrown weapons, and archery. She also served as chronicler and exchequer for her local branches in the past. Most recently, she was East Kingdom Marshal of Fence 2018-2022 and served as Rapier One at Pennsic 47. Her priorities as a leader within the rapier community have been to increase accessibility and inclusivity, support geographically isolated areas, and encourage experiments that increase the historical accuracy of the activity. She is a member of the Order of Defense.

Caitrin McCullough is a Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist for the Soldier Division of the Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Integrated Logistics Support Center with over 15 years of service to the country as an Army Civilian. She is a Section Leader for a team that manages logistics support for smartphones, batteries, body armor, physical fitness testing, and other gear used by Army Soldiers. Her educational background is in writing, with a dual English and Philosophy bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College and a Master of Arts in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College. She also holds a Master of Science in Management from Emmanuel College. She lives in Massachusetts with her partner Timothy, 2 kids, and a dog.
