The SCA Inc. Board of Directors has appointed Kelly McKinnon (she/her/hers) as the next corporate Communications Officer for SCA Inc. This volunteer position is a key role that will help guide and strengthen how we tell the SCA’s story—supporting both our internal community and public outreach. The Communications Officer oversees the implementation of communication strategy (including social media), official messaging, and content coordination across the Known World, helping ensure a clear, engaging, and inclusive voice for the Society.
Kelly McKinnon brings more than a decade of professional experience spanning marketing, communications, and administrative roles in the public education sector. Her career has given her a strong foundation in shaping, maintaining, and amplifying the core messages of the organizations she supports. Kelly has developed skills in crafting clear, engaging content, coordinating outreach campaigns, and ensuring consistent communication across diverse audiences. She understands how to balance strategic priorities with the everyday realities of effective messaging, making her a reliable voice for any team. When Kelly isn’t making funny TikToks about her experience in the SCA, she collects Dragonlance paperback novels and spooky decor. She has a fondness for popcorn, lavender Earl Grey tea, and naps.
Honorable Lady Koia Karasova is an 11th century Kyivan Rus noblewoman. Her focus is on learning and teaching about Kyivan Rus garments, Olga of Kyiv, and also block printing textiles. Koia mentors and encourages artisans and volunteers to have fun. She currently resides in the Principality of Vindheim in the Kingdom of Ansteorra.
