The Society Marshal and the Society Thrown Weapons Deputy are pleased to make available for commentary the approved draft of the new Thrown Weapons Handbook. Commentary will be accepted through May 28, 2026.
This new Thrown Weapons handbook is part of the ongoing modernization effort, which is updating ALL the marshal handbooks in conjunction with updates to the marshal related sections in Corpora. The goal is to better reflect the current structure, culture, and safety best practices we use today in our SCA martial activities.
One of the most significant changes is the modernized format, designed for easy online access and usability. With clear and common layouts, improved navigation, and consistency across all marshal handbooks, this new format makes it easier for both newcomers and experienced participants to find the information they need quickly and confidently.

Important Dates: A multi-month process for major changes to handbooks is being used to improve communication and transparency. The timeline is:
– March 28 thru May 28: Thrown Weapons Handbook is open for commentary. This version has been approved by the BoD for commentary for 60 days.
– March – May: Updates to the handbook will be developed based on the commentary.
– June 1: The new handbook, with updates resulting from received commentary, will be submitted to the BoD for final review and approval.
– June 20: The new Thrown Weapons handbooks will be in effect (if approved during the June BoD meeting). International affiliates will follow their processes/timelines.
