The First Step in the Society’s Rules Modernization Project
The Society Marshal’s Office is proud to release the updated Armored Combat (Rattan) Handbook—the first of many in our comprehensive rules modernization initiative. It will come into effect in December 2025.
This major project aims to update all martial handbooks across disciplines, as well as the relevant sections in Corpora, to better reflect the current structure, culture, and safety best practices of martial activity in the SCA today.
One of the most significant changes is the modernized format, designed for easy online access and usability. With clearer layout and improved navigation, this new format makes it easier for both newcomers and experienced participants to find the information they need quickly and confidently.
The official PDF version is available on the SCA.org website. https://www.sca.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Armored_Combat_Rattan_Handbook-_Approved-June-2025.pdf
