The Board of Directors is pleased to appoint Sam Davis (Duke Thomas Blackmoore, KSCA, OP, OL) as Manager of Information Technology. Mr Davis will commence in the role following the April 2022 meeting of the Board of Directors.
Sam Davis is a Senior Compute and Storage Engineer at Kennesaw State University. That is state speak for a Linux system administrator and hardware architect of the HPC Research Mainframe at the University. His career spans over twenty years working for the Georgia Board of Regents at two different Universities. In addition to being an avid woodworker, he is also a life-long fantasy and sci-fi geek. He lives in Acworth, Georgia, while acting as chief butler for three adorable, demanding felines.
Duke Thomas Blackmoore, KSCA, OP, OL, is an English noble living in the 15th century and managing his estates during the reign of Henry V. After achieving renown and fortune through the wars on the continent, he now chooses to focus on gentler pursuits.
The Manager of Information Technology (MIT) leads a team of volunteers who maintain and manage the SCA’s Internet servers for web, email, and related infrastructure services. The MIT’s team manages the SCA’s Internet domains, SSL certificates, the technical aspects of e-commerce clearinghouse services, and similar aspects of the corporation’s online identity. The MIT may also lead and direct external paid contractors for specific business critical projects or administrative duties.The position is reports directly to the President and indirectly to the Vice President of Operations and to the Board of Directors by way of an Ombudsman.
