How to find your local SCA group
The SCA has hundreds of local chapters; here is the information needed to find the people nearest you.
Who can help you?
The primary contact point in every group is the group president, called the "Seneschal". Some groups also have an officer whose job is to assist newcomers; usually called the "Chatelaine", "Hospitaller", or "Castellan".When phoning an SCA officer, ask for them by their legal name, even if their SCA name is listed. Most of these people also work outside of their homes. Please call after working hours, and before 10 p.m. (2200 hours) their local time.
Where are they?
The SCA doesn't organize itself according to the conventions of the modern world. It is organized instead into nineteen kingdoms, which don't follow state, province, or even country borders. Kingdoms are composed of smaller chapters known as as Baronies, Shires, Cantons, etc. Most activities in the SCA are organized by these local groups, and in order to get together with SCA people in your area, you will need to contact someone from one of these groups. How do I find them?
Begin by locating the kingdom that contains your state (or province, or country). Follow the link to your kingdom's webpage, and look for a link to Groups (it may be called "Branches", "Regnum", or "Contacts"). Some kingdoms also have an interactive form to look up your local group. The group listing will include local contacts, and often has links to local group websites as well.If there is no local contact information for the group in your area, or if it is no longer valid, the Kingdom Chatelain or Seneschal should be able to give you the current contact. You can find them on the Kingdom Officers' (or "Regnum") page of the kingdom website.
You can also find many local groups and individual SCA members on the privately-maintained People and Groups in the SCA website.
When All Else Fails -- contact the Corporate Office
You can call or write to the central offices of the SCA Inc. and ask them for help contacting the nearest SCA group. If you are in the USA, include your 5-digit ZIP Code. If you send a letter, it would be helpful to supply a self-addressed stamped envelope.
